Los Chilitos has a fun patio where you can soak up some great sun, margaritas and the action on 17 Ave. My typical patio order is the Chilitos Tacos where you pick your meat (the Pastor Cochinita is my favourite) and they are served with salsa on corn tortillas, you get four tacos for $14 and it is a filling meal. But this is December and we are here for Project Fiesta not the sunshine so headed inside to grab a meal. Starting with margaritas ($7) we perused the menu and ordered up some jalapeno rellenos ($9), fish tacos ($15) and tequila prawns ($15). The jalapeno rellenos were jalapenos stuffed with soft cheese, coated with almonds and drizzled with a chipotle honey sauce. The honey sauce was the star of this dish and although we enjoyed the jalapenos needed to be cooked more and we found the dish wasn’t hot enough. The fish tacos were breaded and a good bang for the buck regarding portions however they were a bit lack luster and we were disappointed when told that they didn’t have any fresh jalapenos to spice it up. The tequila prawns were bland and not recommended. Our advice is to hit the patio in the summer for some Chilitos Tacos and definitely indulge in their margaritas or beergaritas.
